Tax Time is Here! Tips for Discounts
1.14.2008 | Financials
For most people, doing taxes is a chore and it’s an after-thought reserved for the second week of April. For business owners and people who are expecting a fat return, we start thinking about them in January.
For the early birds, you are in luck. You are the audience that H&R Block and other companies are interested in targeting. Now, I’ve been using the H&R online interface for about 3-5 years now. The reason I like them is because they make those complicated government forms appear simple. Instead of weird paths drawn by dotted lines, they actually explain different fields using English and lay the whole process out in a format I understand. Another reason I like them is because they keep your old returns from year to year so you don’t have to worry about remembering anything except your password. It saves a ton of time and the trees appreciate it.

However, even though I’m a returning customer and would have defaulted to them again this year… I’m here to tell you that it would actually be cheaper to google them and click on their ad as a new customer than to straght up type in their URL. As I’ve mentioned, they want you as their customer and they’re willing to offer discounts and run promotions to get you. I guess sometimes blind loyalty has its price… so like everything else, it pays to shop around every once in awhile.
