Fail Fast. Share Often and Learn!

If you only read about the success stories in magazines such as Fast Company or Entrepreneur, you’d think everyone who made the leap ends up with a fairy tale ending and a new life. The truth is, the turbulent world of entrepreneurship is nothing like that – it’s much more bleak.
An experienced, entrepreneurial plumber who starts their own business probably only thinks about the 100% commission they get to keep vs. the 20 or 30% they make from working for someone else. What they fail to realize is that to be their own boss, they also need to be a great marketer, great accountant and to keep a cool head with very little sleep. To be honest, sometimes I wonder if the 70 or 80% tax on your income is a fair price for that safety net and to know you don’t have to worry about anything else besides what you’re great at.
TechDrawl recently posted a great video interview with two of Atlanta’s entrepreneurs. While we may all start a little differently and for different reasons, the lessons we all learn from failure are surprisingly very similar.
