Finding a Co-founder

This topic comes up a TON amongst the startup community but honestly, I don’t think there is a silver bullet answer on how to find great co-founders. I will say this: having been burned by outsourcing design and code to India for previous projects, I knew personally, I did not want to make that mistake again. Also, finances are a real concern with all startups so I wouldn’t pour the last of our savings into bad developers if it meant extending my personal runway for a few more months. Read more…

Well, it’s only a month into 2010 so technically I’m not too late to do a reflection post for last year. 2009 was a year of many changes for me and my startup. After talking to entrepreneurs and observing web based startup teams over the last couple of years, it’s becoming easier to spot teams that will succeed vs. teams that may succeed. One notable things about teams that are more likely to succeed, the ones that have been staying on track week-to-week, is that they have diversity on their team – mainly separating the role of business development and technical development into two or more people.

After getting a great start on our phase 1 technical development, we are now looking for a new technical lead to take what we have already established to the next level.  The ideal candidate should have previous experience working in a startup, (meaning you know this is high speed and low pay) and would be willing to work for part equity and negotiable pay.
