Atlanta Webmasters Meetup

11.18.2009 | Startup Resources

You know how it goes:

  1. Create a blog or service-website catered to a niche
  2. Make it free so you can build users
  3. Setup some ads and affiliate programs
  4. ???
  5. PROFIT!

If your current venture relies on ad revenue as its primary source of income and you are actually doing well, we would like to hear from you! I am getting a group of webmasters together in the very near future to share some best practices from our personal experiences. Amongst the topics we will try to cover:

  • Best ways to get more traffic. (SEO, articles, etc.)
  • Does SEM make sense for us.
  • Ways to optimize our ads on the site for better performance.
  • Affiliate programs that work
  • Alternative ad networks that work
  • Tips on selling ads directly or through a service.

If you are interested, please leave a comment below or ping me on Twitter.

I’m not trying to be a smart ass, I swear, but I’d be interested to know if you get many replies here – I honestly thought this business model was widely thought to be dead.

Is anyone in Atlanta actually making money this way?

Yeah – lots of people are making money this way. We met two people who make $5,400+ a month the other day at AWE.

Advertising based businesses are not dead. Some just do it better than others.
